The craft can be taught, too.

I bring the rigour of private service into the daily practice of residences, hotels and vessels — through individual programmes or programmes for entire teams.

Who delivers the training

TAUGHT BY SOMEONE
STILL DOING THE WORK.

Grosvenor House · The Ritz · The International Butler Academy

I learned formal service at Grosvenor House, on Park Lane, and how to look after a guest as a concierge at the Hotel Ritz Barcelona. I then took that into private households, where there is no hotel structure behind you and everything rests on the judgement of whoever is there.

My training as Butler & House Manager at The International Butler Academy, in the Netherlands, gave that craft a method.

I teach at Yachting Butler Academy in Palma de Mallorca, on silver service and onboard standards, and at The Lifestyle Institute in Barcelona, to Personal Assistants and Lifestyle Managers. And I still work in houses: what I teach is what I do.

How I approach training

YOU DO NOT LEARN A SCRIPT.
YOU LEARN JUDGEMENT.

In person · In the house itself or in a classroom

Most service courses teach a sequence: which side to serve from, where each glass goes, what to say on arrival. That is learned in two days and forgotten in a week, because the real life of a house never matches the example.

What I teach is something else: why it is done that way. Once someone understands the reason, they know what to do on the day the situation is not in the manual, which is most days.

I work with full teams and with individuals. With people starting out, and with people who have years behind them and want to order what they already know.

Who it is for

Butlers, housekeepers, household staff, interior yacht crew, hotel teams and people entering private service.

Where

In the residence itself, on board or at the hotel, with the team’s real equipment. Also in a classroom when the group prefers it.

How it is set

There is no fixed programme. First I see the team, the level they start from and the standard they want to reach. The content follows from that.

WE ALSO TAKE CARE
OF THIS.

FIVE RELATED AREAS. One point of contact.

One request tends to open another. When that happens, there is no need to explain the context again or find someone new: the information, the suppliers and the standard are already in place.
